Small movements often have to be transmitted or compensated by flexible elements in this field.. Apart from small component dimensions, precisely defined spring rates and hydraulic cross-sections and large numbers of load cycles are required here.
Witzenmann metal bellows are employed in large numbers in thermostat valves as actuators to transform temperature changes into axial movements. A further field of application are bellows actuators for the compensation of lens errors in high-precision optical systems.
